The greatest story ever told was and is about Jesus Christ. Jesus, the Son of God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life fulfilling God's Law and died on a cross taking on the sin debt that belongs to man. On the third day after His death Jesus rose from the dead victorious over death, sin and the grave.

Jesus called for repentance and faith in Himself in order to be saved from our sins. Are we guilty of sin? In the book of Romans Chapter 3 verse 23, which is in the New Testament part of God's Word states that, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." That means we are ALL guilty of sin. Romans Chapter 6 verse 23 states, "The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

There IS hope! And His name is Jesus.

At West Summerville it is our desire to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with a lost and dying world. We desire to see men and women reconciled with God the Father through Jesus Christ and then built up with God's Word into a disciple of Christ.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God through which God has disclosed his character, his will, and his plan of redemption.

We believe in only one God who has existed eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his death as an atonement for sin through the shedding of blood, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to heaven, and his personal return in power and glory.

We believe that human beings are sinful, guilty, and lost without Christ and that salvation from the consequences of sin comes only through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross where he bore our sins and died on our behalf.

We believe that sinners are made right before God only by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit whose presence enables believers to live by faith and grow in spiritual maturity.

We believe in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead for both salvation and final judgment.

This brief statement of faith does not cover the full extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and authoritative Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of West Summerville Baptist Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our [GOVERNING BODY] is West Summerville Baptist Church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
